New Year's Hiatus

Howdy everybody! I'm sure you're thinking to yourself "it's Thursday already and he still hasn't uploaded a new comic, the lazy bastard!" You're not entirely wrong, actually.

As every year, I'm treating myself to a much needed break, so no need to worry - Piece of Me WILL be back. On January 10th, in fact. Until then I'll be spending my time with family and friends.

See y'all next year, let's hope it'll be a better one than 20fucking16.

Books and cons and streams, oh my!

Hello there everybody, long time no read. I've got quite a few important things to tell you, so let's dig right in.

Let's talk about my livestreams first.

About a year or so ago, I started streaming on every Monday, which worked rather fine for the most part. However, I came to dislike this spot in the week more and more. So I've decided to move the livestreams to Thursday evening since I feel like it's a more comfortable day for both my viewers and myself. Nobody likes mondays anyway. As always, you can find my stream on and on respectively (though I strongly recommend that you watch via Picarto – the multistream with Mike of Antares Complex only works there). I'm looking forward to seeing you there, so do come by and say hello!

Moving swiftly on to the second topic at hand – conventions.

Namely the Vienna Comix convention, which I'll be visiting once again from the 8th to the 9th October. I'll be there with Tami, Spike and some other usual suspects and with a bunch of really nice swag for you to pick up – a new book being one of the new items, as the title of this blog post already mentioned. Speaking of which …

Yes, you've read that right – I've got another book for you. Unfortunately, it's only in German and in very limited supply (at least so far) because I can't afford printing more books in both English and German. Maybe one day. Either way, the second book is 100 pages thick (compared to a measly 60 pages of the first one), offers twice as much „exclusive“ content and looks really really cool, if I do say so myself. What's that exclusive content you ask? Well, it's the very first storyline of this here webcomic completely rewritten (Thanks Spike!) and redrawn (Thanks me!). Yes, the first time travel storyline, starting from comic #50. I wanted to add some tangible value to the book without alienating those who can't afford or acquire it for whatever reason (hey, I'm not judging, I know my stuff is hard to come by – sorry about that by the by, it's something I'm looking into). I think I've struck a nice balance between exclusivity and familiarity and I'm inclined to believe that you'll agree.

So that's it from the newsworthy front. If there's anything else you'd like to know, feel free to get in touch, either via Facebook, Twitter or even Email.

Until then I hope to see you all soon on stream or in person at the Vienna Comix. Take care and thank you all for your attention.

Stream on Thursday

What up, nerds? I'll be moving today's stream to Thursday ... once again. Terribly sorry, but I'm swamped with preparations for the Vienna COMIX 2016. Come to think of it - would you mind if I were to move the livestreams to Thursday altogether? Yay or nay? I'd highly appreciate your vote here:

Stream Delayed

Hey folks, just a quick heads up: I'm not feeling all too well – the Comic Salon Erlangen seems to have taken its toll – so I won't be streaming later today. I'll stream on Thursday evening instead so I can rest up a bit. Sorry about the inconvenience and thank you for understanding <3

Twitch vs. Picarto, FIGHT!

Remember that new years' resolution of mine where I promised more blog posts? Yeah, me neither.

Anyway, some of you might have noticed that I have switched from Twitch to So, what exactly happened?

It's rather simple, really. Viewers kept complaining about unstable streams and lost connections on Twitch, so I looked into alternatives and found In short, Picarto seems to be a lot more stable, it's a platform tailored specifically for streaming art rather than gaming, offers multistream capabilities (which I genuinely love, it's so much fun!) AND lets users join the chatroom without having to create an account there. All in all, it's a better experience for everyone involved, especially for my readers. It's the same reasoning as my switching from Facebook comments to Disqus – more readers can use it due to fewer restrictions. I know that Picarto doesn't quite have the same fame to its name as Twitch does, but it allows for better interaction with more people. As far as I'm concerned, that's a win-win for everyone involved.

I also changed the Twitch button on my front page to display my online status and the amount of viewers currently watching my stream. Don't hesitate to click on it whenever it says that I'm online, you'll be in for a treat for sure!

So to conclude, do check out my stream when you've got the chance. I'm streaming every Monday, usually around 7:00 p.m. UTC, with at least one other guest - Mike from Antares Complex and/or Rolicious. Spike usually hangs out with us as well. Until then, stay NEAT UND TIDY (Yes, that's a stream joke of sorts) and I'll hopefully see you on Monday on!

Happy new year, happy new website & happy new content!

So, according to the calendar (and a few folks who won't shut up about it on social media), it's 2016. January the first, to be precise. As promised, we're back from our holiday break – not only with a new comic, but also with a slightly revamped website and new content.

So what exactly is new here? I'm certainly glad you asked! In case you didn't ask, I'll tell you anyway. I'm a generous god, after all.

  • A seperate blog! That's right, I decided to make the comments a bit more accessible (in a futile hope that somebody will actually post something there) and to move the "news" to their own site. In fact, you're looking at it right now! This way, you'll be able to read a bit further back than only two posts AND I'll be incentivized to write a bit more there. New year's resolutions n all that, you know the drill.
  • A fanart page! Some of you may not be aware of this, but I've gotten quite a few pieces of fan art over the past few years, so I figured I'd add a fan art page to display all the hard work my fans put into these wonderful things. All of them link to the artist's page (if they have one that is), so if you want to see more of a particular artist, just click on the image. Easy, innit? Of course, you can (and totally should, seriously!) send your fan art my way – you'll find more information on the fan art page itself.
  • A friends list! This list (to the right of the page, below the slider) could be considered advertisement – I like to think of it as a nudge towards some folks that I really appreciate and actually consider friends. So you still won't see ads on this site – it's a passion of mine and I don't want to compromise your reading experience after all – but rather have the opportunity to check out some very talented people, hand picked by me. Expect to see more links rather soon.
  • Sneak Peek Mondays on Twitch! Now, this is a tricky one. I have no idea whether or not my bandwidth will allow me to pull this off consistently. But if it does, you're in for a treat. Instead of simply posting WIP images on my Facebook and Twitter page of Tuesday's comic, you've got the opportunity to watch me draw live on stream. Needless to say, I'll keep a close eye on the chat stream, so don't be afraid to say Hi or ask a question or two – I'll gladly answer them both in English and German.

Yeah, I think this about wraps it up. Let me know what you think of the new-ish website and tell me what you'd like to see on there going forward, I'd love to hear some suggestions and feedback. You can reach me via Facebook, Twitter or Mail – all contact information can be found in the bottom bar of my website. Until then, enjoy my comics. <3

Christmas Break

Like every year, I'm taking a break from drawing comics over Christmas to spend time with my family and to recharge my batteries a bit, so to speak. This year around, I'll take a little bit of a longer pause – I'll travelling a lot over the holidays. I could use my Surface Pro to keep on drawing the strip, but a) I don't really have the time, b) as a direct result, I wouldn't be able to keep up the quality I want to deliver to you and that you got used to by now and c) I really, really need a few days off. I'm rambling a bit, aren't I? Moving on ...

Piece of Me will return on January 1st and pick up the current storyline, obviously. Also, I've got a few additions to the website in the works (a page for fan art, a seperate blog page, more prominent comments and a few other small tweaks), so you've got that to look forward to as well.

I really hope to see you all again in 2016 with my spirits lifted and my stress levels lowered. Thank you very much for a very successful year and all of your amazing support, enjoy your holidays and stay awesome.

Best wishes from yours truly, see you next year! <3

Subtle changes

Hello there! If you've visited the page in the past few days or so, you might notice a subtle change today - that's because I've opted to make the comment section a little more prominent after getting some feedback on it, saying that it's hard to figure out where it is.

As you see, the comments now replace the news as soon as you browse through the comics or when you click that "XY Comments" link in the navigation below the current strip. You can get back to the blog simply by returning to the landing page (by clicking the logo on desktop or by navigating to "Home" on mobile devices in the menu to the left). Also, the search bar swapped places and is now located to the right above the strip - it even scrolls down with the other buttons to allow you easy and quick access to the search function.

Anyway, I hope you like the changes. I didn't stay awake until 3 a.m. for nothing. On a workday, no less.

I am not a smart man.

Vienna Comix roundup & Piece of Me on Tapastic

Oh dear, I completely forgot to write a short summary about the Vienna Comix. I shall remedy that immediately.

So, Vienna Comix. What a cool little convention. Spike and I were able to get a table in the artist's room and let me tell you, it really paid off. Not only did we have a blast joking around with all manner of cool people (especially Dogeatello, you gals rock!), we also sold a few books, so it sorta, kinda, probably, maybe paid off financially as well. Which is a nice bonus, but really not what we came for in the first place - our focus was to meet a few readers and to gain a few new ones, and boy, did that work wonderously. My best moment by far was that one group of youths who asked me if I'm cool with them cosplaying one of my characters, Plot Twist Man. Yes, I'm completely serious. Needless to say that I was completely floored. So if you guys are reading this, you officially made my day.

Since this was our very first con, I can't really say whether this is normal or not, but con visitors are about the nicest folks you could imagine. Rarely have I ever seen so many smiles around, so much genuine niceness in one place, and never have I ever felt so much at home amidst so many strangers so quickly. No matter your fandom, everyone I met and talked to got along with each other, I haven't seen a single instance of somebody pissing someone else off or anything else along those nasty lines. So basically, it was the polar opposite of what you see on the internet on a regular basis.

I loved it.

Tami did too, judging by all the My Little Pony merch she carried back home.

Suffice to say that we're SO going to apply for a table at the next con in October. We're already impatiently looking forward to the next Vienna Comix and to seeing all you awesome people again.

In other news, you can now also find our comic Piece of Me on Tapastic. In case you're not familiar with that website, it's basically the Netflix of Webcomics: You've got tons (and I mean TONS) of awesome comics - like ours, ha ha - in one place, completely free of charge. In addition, you're supporting creators with ad revenue (I know you guys hate ads, but if you could turn off AdBlock over there, that'd be really swell. No pressure though <3 ) or you can support them directly, Patreon style. I should point out that you'll still get our comics on our own website sooner since it's still our primary outlet. Just sayin'.

So if you're already using Tapastic or if you're just curious what it's all about, pay us a visit there. You won't regret it. I hope.

Webcomic Underdogs Switcheroo & Vienna Comix

Hello there Internet! As you can see, I'm doing things a little differently today, namely with a guest strip by George Ward (you can find his webcomic here: How did I get the honours? Why, April Fool's, of course! To be more specific, I'm taking part in the Webcomic Underdogs April Fools' Switcheroo, which involves exchanging guest comics between participating artists. I also feel like I should recommend Webcomic Underdog's community to anyone who creates comics of their own, it's a truly lovely bunch. If you wanna check out their site you can do so here:

Vienna Comix

In other news, we, as in Tami, Spike, his girlfriend and me, are going to be at the Vienna Comix comic convention from 18th to 19th April! Yes, that's right, if you happen to be in Vienna that time of the year, you can seize the opportunity to come by and say Hi to at least three of your favourite Piece of Me characters themselves! But not only that, we're also going to have tons of super swanky swag for you to pick up and take home: BOOKS! (among other things) Indeed, the very first Piece of Me book "Erste Wahl" (only in German for the time being, sorry!) will be available for purchase at our booth, Spike is going to sell his very first Void Comics comic books as well! If that's not reason enough to swing by, I don't know what to do with you, honestly.

So save the date (18th - 19th of April 2015) and come visit us! You won't regret it.

I think.

Fan Art!

20. February 2015

Every now and then, I'm getting some amazing pieces of fan art. Such was the case yesterday evening, so I thought I'd share it with you. If you're curious about the other stuff these artists are doing, just click on the images – it'll take you right to their webcomics.

So without much further ado ... feast yer eyes!

Some things you might not know

07. February 2015

Howdy everyone! So here's a few updates that I didn't report on.

For starters, due to popular request, you can now switch between comics with your arrow keys: Left for the previous comic, right for the next one. Hope that comes in handy for you guys.

Also, you can follow us now on Twitter for more random stuff and some looks behind the scenes if you will.

So yeah. That about sums it up. Just so you know.

Je suis Charlie

08. January 2015

I'll just assume that everybody's heard the news about yesterday's terrible attack on the french satirical newspaper "Charlie Hebdo" by now. If you didn't, google it. I'll wait.

Back again? Good.

For whatever it may be worth, I just wanted to express my solidarity with the victims and their bereaved families. This strike against freedom of speech and freedom of expression will never be forgotten, nor will we, as artists, be intimidated by these heinous crimes.

Feel free to use and/or share the above image however you see fit, no credits needed.

200 comics & new update schedule!

14. November 2014

As some of you might have noticed, we've reached the not particularly magical threshold of 200 comics on this little website. Feels REALLY good man, not gonna lie. Anyways, to celebrate the occasion, there's a special little treat for you all: A massive, awesome storyline, co-written by my good friend Spike (thanks a ton mate, I O U) AND a new update schedule: Piece of Me is going to update TWICE a week from now on, namely every Tuesday and Friday. So you'lll have even more nonsense to look forward to, and with your ongoing support, I'm sure I'll be able to pull it off.

Thanks for everything folks! Here's to another 200 strips!

About the end of an era, new beginnings and cons

08. October 2014

So this is it. The end of an era. After about three years, I bid my Wacom Intuos 4 L adieu. It's served me well and I'm not gonna lie, I feel kinda sad at the thought of letting it go. However, I've gotten to the point where I felt that my abilities could benefit from a tablet with a monitor to draw directly on. Alas, I searched the interwebs and found that my bank account and my standards don't seem to see eye to eye – until I stumbled upon a rather promising, yet rather cheap alternative to Wacom's heartburn-inducingly priced, but market-dominating Cintiq tablets: The Yiynova MSP19U+, or, as I like to call it, 'The Bang For The Buck'. (I don't really call it that, by the way. That'd be just silly.)

So after studying pretty much every review I could find (of which there aren't that many out there, honestly), I decided to order one and give it a spin. All I have to say is: It holds up insanely well, especially considering the price of just about 670 bucks. The glass surface takes a little while to get used to, but feels great to draw on, the 1440 by 900px resolution of the 19 inch display is plenty enough and the LED display looks and feels pretty good and responsive once the whole calibration business is done (which could take a while – the drivers are a little fiddly and lack the polish of Wacom's driver software, but they get the job done). The only two minor gripes I've got with it are the VGA cable (yes, really) which is pretty short and, well, a VGA cable, and that the viewing angles of the display aren't stellar – but since I'm mostly sitting right in front of it, that's really just a minor complaint. At the end of the day, the Yiynova MSP19U+ (good lord, that's one unsexy name) does a phenomenal job with little to no lag and is well worth its price. If you're considering to get yourself a monitor digitizer but lack the funds to buy a small fighter jet, I can and will whole-heartedly recommend Yiynova's Cintiq alternative.

And now for something completely different. Last weekend, Spike and I decided to visit the Vienna Comix, which is one of Europe's biggest comic conventions. If you live in central Europe, you might actually want to check it out! We met tons of really, REALLY nice people and it's just a blast to hang out there. As a matter of fact, I'm going to see if I can get a table in the artist's room there – maybe even with a small book for sale. I'll keep you up to speed as good as I can, of course. Until then, I recommend you check out the Vienna Comix for yourself – the next one's on April 18. & 19. 2015, by the way, so save the date – you might even see Tami, Spike and me behind a table there. Either way, I'm really looking forward to it!

Piece of Me - Now available on Comic Chameleon!

15. July 2014

Did you know that our comic is now available in the iPhone app Comic Chameleon?

You should totally check it out. Not only would we really appreciate the support, but there are also many more amazing comics like Awkward ZombieSaturday Morning Breakfast CerealxkcdChainsawsuitBoxer HockeyDinosaur Comics,OglafThe Abominable Charles Christopher and so on and so forth.

"But wait", I hear you ask, "what about an Android app?"

That's a very good question. As far as I know, there'll be a Kickstarter for that sooner or later. I'll keep you informed.

Until then, thanks for checking out our comic on Comic Chameleon!

Yes, we're responsive!

20. May 2014

Hello there! If you're reading this on a smartphone or tablet, you might have noticed something different. That's because I finally got the time to make the website responsive. You're welcome.

In case you're wondering about the whereabouts of the cast-page, don't worry: I'll bring it back as soon as I had the time to redesign it like I did with the archive and the search function. Did you see that already? Go ahead, take a look. I'll wait. If you can't find the site navigation on your phone, take a closer look at the banner, there's a new button that will open a new menu.

While we're on the subject of the search function, I finally came around to add tags to each and every comic. Each. And. Every. One. Both in english and german, naturally. What are those good for you ask? They'll make finding the comic you're looking for that much easier.

I hope you like the new additions (and the new comic as well). Please let me know if you run into any errors or bugs on the site, I'll fix them as soon as possible. Thanks in advance!

New Everything!

28. May 2013

Sneaky update is sneaky!

I know most of you don't really read these (which allows me to write as many obscenities in here as I please - NIPPLES.) so I'll cut right to the chase. Piece of Me got yet another overhaul, including various new features, like previews in the archive, a better search function, a fancy new scrolling thingy and an own page for the Piece of Me Shorts, which will be updated whenever I feel like it. I also decided to dump Google's +1-button because who the fuck cared about that thing anyway, amirite?

So please enjoy the new, better and flashier website and feel free to email me or contact me via the facebooks about suggestions and/or bugs you might encounter here. Thanks in advance!
